Foam Clay

 
Foam clay at Fired 4 U is a fun craft activity for you to be creative with. Foam clay is made of tiny beads of clay coated with colour which is sticky. There are 10 colours to choose from to decorate pottery (ornamental pieces only), wood or papier mache items.

How do we use it?
You take a tiny piece of the coloured clay and press it onto the item you wish to decorate and keep adding. You can mould it into shapes to add onto your item for extra decoration. Sequins and glitter can be also added to the surface to give a different look to your piece.

When will it be ready?
Your foam clay creation can be taken home with you, whilst it will still be a little bit wet it will dry off over night and go hard within 2-3 days

Items to decorate
Wooden picture frames, pencil boxes or boy and girl figures.
We often have in other craft items to decorate in this way which we vary to keep it different just like our pottery painting activity.
Any of our ornamental pottery items even badges which are great fun.

How old do you have to be to do the foam clay activity at Fired 4 U?
The youngest so far has been 2yrs with a little assistance. As its non toxic and makes no mess at all its suitable for any ages – adults or children.

We often take this activity out of the studio to fairs or other venues as it travels very well and if its going to be a busy session we can concentrate on helping our customers rather than spending time on washing up the painting tools. In Feb 2011 we attended the Chinese New Year arts and craft festival at Leyland with 138 children doing this acitivity in 4 hours!
